Bike-a-holics

Buckley Park was awash in costume-clad crazies parading around on a variety of randomly constructed, custom built cruisers during the third annual Tour de Fat on Saturday. New Belgium Brewery, bringing back its Mardi Gras-inspired festival
of bikes and beer, helped benefit local nonprofits the San Juan Mountains Association and Trails 2000. The festivities got under way early with a parade through town. Local musical favorites Freewill Recovery rocked Buckley Park while The Handsome Little Devils provided an outstanding variety show of juggling and humor. The ballyhoo of bikes and beer came to a close with the Slow Ride competition down Main Avenue, where the slowest riders proved to be most worthy.

The Handsome Little Devils wowed the crowd
with their fire ball-laden juggling act.

A variety of pedal-powered rides were on hand at Buckley Park, much to the delight of this youngster who accelerates in her swing.

Tour de Fat organizer Chris Winn calls to the beer tent for five cups of beer, which the Slow Ride competitors were to drink before crossing the finish line.

Chad Cheeney sports his most fashionable cruiser
wear as he rides through the event grounds.

Completely in his element, volunteer Mike Kane goes double-fisted for the line of thirsty event attendees patiently awaiting their frothy beverages.
