The Four Corners Commission Exhibit, hosted by the Durango Arts Center, opened its doors Friday night to a passionate crowd of artists and art enthusiasts. This locally grown art show welcomed more than 60 artists displaying work ranging from mainstream to the beautifully bizarre. The 120 pieces submitted were juried by Tempe, Ariz., resident and artist Laurie Lundquist. Best of Show accolades went to Marie McCallum and her painting “Mesa Cattle.” Tirzah Camacho took home the Juror's Choice Award with her piece “An Assimilation Predicament,” and Katherine Barr's “Mushroom Cloud” received the Merit Award. An Honorable Mention went to Caroline Reeves Johnson for her painting, “The Backside, Hermosa Creek.”
