Bluegrass for the Animas

The second annual Bluegrass for the Animas festival was held last Saturday as a fund-raiser for two local nonprofits, the Animas Conservancy and Friends of the Animas River. The event took place on the 120 acres of open space, the Animas Meanders Ranch, which is owned by Paula and Leela Sugnet. Several local bands performed throughout the day, with Mary & Mars, a bluegrass group from Santa Fe, headlining the festival. Local breweries and restaurants donated proceeds from beer and food sales helping the festival raise funds for the groups.
