Dog days

Santa Rita Park was turned into a yapping, romping, moving collage as dogs and dog lovers of all shapes and sizes took to the lawn during the third annual Mutt Strut and Humane Society Adopt-a-Thon on Sunday. The event, which benefitted the La Plata County Humane Society, found new homes for several of the shelter’s dogs even prior to the onset of the day’s event. The crowds were entertained by a variety of activities including a pet/owner look-a-like contest and a heavily contested competition for Durango’s ugliest dog.
