Cajun roots band plays Storyville
What: A concert by New Orleans-based Sol Fiya
Where: Storyville, 1150 Main Ave.
When: Aug. 15, 9:30 p.m.

Looking for a taste of Cajun soul food? Head down to Storyville Friday night and catch Sol Fiya, a funky blues band from New Orleans.

Sol Fiya is an energetic, lively Louisiana band whose influences include Taj Mahal, Dr. John and John Mooney. With mentors like that, what band could capture the sound of New Orleans better? Their music also has tastes of bayou funk, jam based songs, inspirational gospel and down home blues. They got their start in New Orleans three years ago and have become local favorites there.

New Orleans' Weekly Freak magazine paid tribute to the five piece band, saying, "Sol Fiya is like a thriving crawfish boil in ya back yard making more fun and music love than grown adult freaks like me can stand. Bring it on. These roots are some of the deepest I've heard."
