No pain no gain

The Adventure Xstream adventure race returned to Durango last weekend after a one year hiatus due to last year’s Missionary Ridge Fire. Racers began their
trek at Durango Mountain Resort and attacked the course, which included an 8-
mile trail run, a 34-mile mountain bike ride, a 14-mile paddle and a 60 foot rappel.
Hometown favorites, Team Colorado, made up of Mike Freeburn, Corey Nielsen, and Mona Merrill, posted the fastest time, finishing the course in six hours, 44 minutes. Durangoan Jon Bailey came in second overall, finishing in six hours and 55 minutes and winning the solo male category.
