In
defense of Ratt
(Editor’s note: The following letter
is in response to our Nov. 14 “Ask the Diver” and
the comment about driving up and down Main Avenue “blaring
Ratt tapes.” This is the first “Dear Diver”
letter that has merited placement as a “Dear Editor”
letter.)
Dear Diver,
My girlfriend and I were cruising Main Ave. and let me tell
ya, it was an awesome day...my girlfriend in her fishnets, big
hair and pumps and me with my gold chains, trench coat and boots,
and my Iroc Z28 – tuned to perfection. We were listening
to Ratt with the volume cranked up to 11. She pointed out your
article, and it made me think... maybe the Diver doesn’t
realize Ratt has a new album out or that Warren DeMartini (lead
guitarist) is an accomplished musician who still is seen in
the guitar world as the Who’s Who in the music place.
Just ’cause they don’t sound like your typical Grateful
Dead hippy wannabe band doesn’t mean you should dis them.
