Season Opener

Durango Mountain Resort opened Saturday, 12 days earlier than anticipated, thanks to recent dumps that left the mountain with a midway snow depth of 36 inches. Resort officials estimate that about 2,000 skiers and snowboarders turned out to sample the goods on 50 percent of the mountain’s front side. Tickets will be $19 until Benefit Day, Wednesday, Nov. 27, when they will be $10, with proceeds going to the Durango Arts Center.
