Ring of Fire

The Sky Ute Tecate Pavilion was thick with the smell of sweat, victory and defeat Saturday night as it hosted four professional boxing bouts. The main event featured Durangoan Elco Garcia, the reigning Canadian-American-Mexican/North American champ, defending his title against Earl Jackson, of Denver. Garcia won the fight on a TKO after six rounds. Also victorious was Victor Barela, 18, of Farmington, who won the bantamweight division in the first round; Olga Vlasova, 26, of Chicago via Russia, who took Junior Lightweight International Female Boxing Association honors; and heavyweight Jesse Village Center, of South Dakota.
