a chance to win a free DMR Ski Pass

This
weekend, Durango Mountain Resort presents Matchstick
Productions’ latest offering, “Ski Movie
3: The Front Line.” For the Front Line, MSP
traveled around the globe with Seth Morrison, Shane
McConkey, Tanner Hall, Wendy Fisher, CR Johnson
and Brad Homes, among others, and pushed the boundaries
of athleticism and cinematography to create what
is being billed as one of the most dynamic ski movies
of the year.
Highlights from the film include Seth Morrison’s
corked 720 off an 80-foot cliff as well as Morrison
getting tubed by a sluff in Alaska. MSP crews and
athletes also shot footage of skiers jumping crevasses
on the Pemberton Icecap in British Columbia and
filmed under an exclusive helicopter permit in Norway’s
Lyngen Alps.
In addition to seeing one of the best ski films
of the year, moviegoers also will have a chance
at giveaways including a 2002-03 DMR season pass.

a free community forum on the basics of oil and gas
as they relate to the region. Many national, state
and local oil & gas professionals, elected officials,
educators, and environmentalists will explore oil
and gas issues as they affect La Plata County. Highlights
of the day include presentations by BP’s Infill
Land Operations Manager Scott Thompson; hydro-geologist
Mike Matheson; Butch Knowlton, La Plata County’s
director of emergency preparedness, on oil & gas
emergency procedures; and Gwen Lachelt, director of
the Oil and Gas Accountability Project, among others.
