Dear Diver:
My mother in law is planning a long weekend here in town. Is it appropriate for me to take the initiative and rent her a room at the Spanish Trails or another
four-star hotel in town? Or should she stay with us?
– Telly Graphalas, Durango

Dear Telly,
“It is appropriate if the house is in worse shape than the Spanish Trails, but, if not, have her stay. It’s appropriate not to get in trouble with the old lady. You don’t need that.”
Yours truly,
– Diver

Diver:
Last Saturday morning, I woke up to find a drunken stranger asleep on my couch. I was a bit alarmed since he was stinking up my house with the acrid
odor of sweat and gin. What do you recommend
someone should do in this situation? Call the cops?
– Julie Tetrault,
South Side Durango

Dear Julie,
Well, if it was me, I’d roll him over to see if it’s my dad first. If not, and if he’s still passed out, I’d probably take his wallet. Then you wake him up and tell him to take off.
Yours truly,
Diver

Dearest Diver:
If a bear gets into my neighbor’s trash, but then decides to drag the trash in
front of my house and leave the mess in my yard, whose responsibility is it to clean it up? Is it a shared job?
– Sharon Wissinger,
Animas City

Dear Sharon,
The neighbors are responsible. They
are the irresponsible people for not securing their trash bin. However, the reality is, you will end up picking it
up anyway. After that, call the city.
Yours truly,
Diver

Dear Diver:
I’m currently toying with the idea of buying a ski pass. However, since this is
Colorado, I don’t think it’s going to snow. Any winter predictions?
–J.G. Grimes,
Gem Village

Dear J.G.
I predict crushing snow. Or, building, flattening devastation. I’ve felt it a long time.
Yours truly,
Diver
